Clothing made from St Kilda Tweed held in the NTS archives
Yesterday my friend Cecilia visited the NTS St Kilda collection in Scotland, and these are a selection of photographs she sent me of a few of the pieces of clothing that had been made from St Kilda tweed.
She also measured the number of warp threads per inch "The skirt was 18 epi, the jackets were both 20 epi." stating also that they were all single ply.
I will relay this information to the Border Mill in Duns who will be spinning the fleeces I take down to them in July and this should help dictate how they spin the wool for the project.
